Fitting newley recieved body mount nut cages.

New replacement cage nuts and cross member sombrero,

I welded the cage nuts into place after wire brushing the fresh paint back to bare metal,

Of course all the welding would have been done before I painted and galvanized the frame, had these parts not taken so bloody long to come.

Pasanger lower arm rebuild

Front lower arms first one blasted and wire brushed,

A small repair had to be done here as the shock nut was missing.

Firstly I welded in a piece of 2.5mm steel

Then ground down the weld,

And finally welded in a replacement nut after drilling a new hole.

After priming, spraying and fitting the new powerflex bushings I have a complete lower arm.

Here I am pressing in the new bushings,

luckily I found a piece of aluminum pipe that fits perfectly over the bushing for pressing.

The fuel tank

Th fuel tank looks worse than it is,only light surface rust.

Steering box assembly

Ready to be hot washed as it is covered in grease and oil,

Once its clean it will be restored also.

Disassembly of front hub assembly

Everything was caked in old grease (messy job)

Frame painted :)

After clearing the floor of all dust and a lot of frame cleaning I sprayed it 3 x coats of gloss black,

Looking good.

I origionally bought this car to have for weekend driving and so on, I had in mind to tidy up the overall basic apperance starting with the interior then wheels etc; but once I started to remove certan parts I soon realised that this is going to need a little more than a tidy up,

Of course this being a blog page the most recent work I have done will be displayed first.
(a bit like reading a book from back to front really)

To the right there ia a Restoration Archive so you can select older posts from start to finish.
