Chassie strip down,

Firstly I removed the engine and gearbox,

Here is a pic of the complete chassis/frame.

Firstly I positioned the axle stands to support the chassis.

Next I removed the wheels,

Completly removed and dismantled the front end,

A sot ot earth lead, hand brake cable mount and my foot :)

Woops! chassis slightly off balance,

Time to remove the diff,

Here is a pic of a frail trailing arm.

I didnt even try to remove this body mount bolt as the frame was so rotten the body lifted straight off it.

Finally the chassis is stripped of all parts,

I will dismantle the trailing arms at a later date,

Man this cross member sure does not want to come off without putting up a battle,

But I won the battle with a poter power.

Chassis inspection can begin.

Last of body frame welding,

A shot of the replacement seat belt bracket with new nuts welded into place,

Welded and sprayed,

Finally all body frame rust free and helthy looking :)

No.2 & 3 body mount repair.

New steel tacked into place,

Here I spotted a rusty patch just to thr left of the mount,

and here is a piece welded in after cutting out rust,

The same was done to the drivers side,

After cleaning and wipe down I spray galvanized for added rust proofing.

New plate in body mount 2 fitted.

I made up a repair piece for body mount 2,

It fit nice and snug when test fitting,

Galvanized this also,

Next job was to weld in a new plate where I cut out the rotten steel,

Some welding may not look great as I was low on gas,

Drivers No.3 mount fitted,

And now welded into place,

Cleaned and sprayed,

Follow along as I attempt a restoration on my Stingray.

I origionally bought this car to have for weekend driving and so on, I had in mind to tidy up the overall basic apperance starting with the interior then wheels etc; but once I started to remove certan parts I soon realised that this is going to need a little more than a tidy up,

Of course this being a blog page the most recent work I have done will be displayed first.
(a bit like reading a book from back to front really)

To the right there ia a Restoration Archive so you can select older posts from start to finish.
